Canoeing the Yukon River from Eagle to Circle

Explore the upper Yukon River in Alaska. We offer canoe rentals for travel on the upper Yukon between Eagle and Circle City and for some of the tributaries of the Yukon in the Central Interior of Alaska. Our canoes and services are available from June 1, 2022 to August 31, 2022.

The section of the Yukon River between Eagle and Circle contains some of the most spectacular and unspoiled scenery. For about 158 miles the Yukon meanders through mountainous terrain and past spectacular bluffs in which millions of years of geological events are documented. Shortly before Circle the river enters the eastern portion of the Yukon River Flats. Between the towns of Eagle and Circle most of the land on either side of the Yukon is part of the Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve.

The towns of Eagle and Circle permit an in-depth look at the short but intense history of the gold rush. Rich in human history, the banks of the Yukon show faint traces of the lives of indigenous people, trappers and gold miners and speak of the great dreams many had brought to the Yukon.

Happy Trails
